RV Covers & Camper Ports
An RV cover is one of our Premier carports built with tall legs — 10 to 13 feet — so a camper, motorhome or fifth wheel drives straight in and clears the roof. Sun and hail are what age a camper fastest, and a cover is a fraction of what a roof repair costs.
Getting the height right
Measure your RV at its tallest point — that means the air conditioner, not the roofline — and add at least a foot. Most travel trailers want 12 foot legs. Class A motorhomes usually want 13.
Remember the leg height is not the peak height. The roof rises above the legs, so you have more room in the middle than at the sides.

Width and length
- 12 to 15 ft wide — one camper, tight but adequate.
- 18 to 21 ft wide — a camper with room to walk around it and put the awning out.
- 24 ft and up — an RV plus a vehicle beside it.
- Length: measure the RV bumper to hitch and add five feet. Most people end up at 35 or 40 feet.
Closing in a side
Many customers close one side or both. A single closed side on the weather side cuts the driving rain and the afternoon sun considerably, and costs far less than closing the whole thing in.
Closing both sides and one end makes it a shelter you can store things in. At that point look at the garage pricing instead — it may be close.

Questions we get asked
- Will a cover keep hail off?
- It keeps hail off the roof, which is where the expensive damage happens. Wind-driven hail can still reach the sides.
- Can I add electric?
- Not as part of the building, but the frame is steel and customers commonly run conduit along it afterward. Use a licensed electrician and bond the frame.
- What about wind?
- Premier frames are braced and anchored. A tall cover catches more wind than a low carport, so anchoring properly matters more — tell us if you are on an exposed ridge.
